A little of the Maghreb on Canterbury Road
Icosium is the Roman name for Algiers, and the house takes the whole western Mediterranean with it. Pierced brass lanterns hang over the sofa, a band of zellige tile runs the length of the living room, and framed studies of Moorish doorways line the wall above the fireplace. There's a sun room off the back, a porch beyond it, and a proper kitchen. Six suites upstairs, each named for a city — and the rugs, the lanterns and the tilework carry the theme all the way to the third floor.
